China Shenhua Energy’s coal output down 13.3 percent in Q1

China Shenhua Energy Company, a listed subsidiary of Shenhua Group - the largest coal company in China, has announced that its coal output in March this year amounted to 23.10 million mt, down 16 percent year on year - the seventh consecutive year-on-year decrease, while rising by 12.7 percent month on month. In the first quarter of the current year, China Shenhua Energy Company's coal output amounted to 69.30 million mt, down 13.3 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, China Shenhua Energy Company sold 25.40 million mt of coal in March, down 36 percent year on year, while declining by 14.5 percent month on month. In the first quarter, its coal sales volume amounted to 72.80 million mt, down 33.5 percent year on year.
 
The company stated that the slow growth of China's economy has resulted in sluggish demand for coal from downstream users, impacting China Shenhua Energy Company's coal output and sales volume in the first quarter this year.
