In August this year, China attracted 82 percent of new shipbuilding orders (1.68 million CGT) in the global market, while South Korea claimed a 13 percent share (270,000 CGT), according to the data issued by Clarksons, the world’s leading provider of integrated shipping services.
In August, 2.05 million CGT of new shipbuilding orders were transacted in the global market, down 30 percent year on year.
In the January-August period this year, 26.81 million mt CGT of new shipbuilding order were transacted in the global market, down 22 percent year on year. In particular, 15.65 million CGT (58 percent share) and 7.25 million CGT (27 percent share) of new shipbuilding orders during the given period were respectively claimed by Chinese and South Korean shipbuilding enterprises.
