Chile investigating imports of steel nails, wire and mesh

The Chilean price distortion commission, CNDP, has started a safeguarding investigation regarding the imports of steel nails, wire and mesh, according to a filing published by the commission at the nation’s official gazette, Diario Oficial.

CNDP said the probe was started under the request of local producer Inchalam, from the Bekaert group.

The steel nails being analyzed by the commission fall under the Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers: 7317.0010, 7317.0090, 7326.2000 and 7326.9000.

As for the wires being reviewed, the Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers are 7210.3000, 7217.1000, 7217.2000, 7217.3000, 7217.9000, 7229.9000, 7312.1010 and 7313.0000.

The types of meshes subject to the investigation are known by the following Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers: 7314.1900, 7314.3100, 7314.3900, 7314.4110, 7314.4190, 7314.4200 and 7314.4900.

CNDP gave no timeline for the investigations to conclude, but said all interested parties could send their comments by phone, fax or email.
