The Chilean price distortion commission, CNDP, has started an antidumping (AD) investigation into Chinese imports of steel grinding balls, according to a notice published at the nation’s official gazette. The request for the AD probe was filed by local steelmaker CAP Acero.

CNDP said that CAP Acero’s request argued steel grinding ball prices to Chile on an FOB basis from China are cheaper when compared to imports from Peru. The products subject to the probe fall under Chilean HTS code 7326.1110.

CNDP said import prices, not disclosed at the time of the notice, do not cover production costs when compared to the cost of steel bars for ball manufacturing.
