In 2010, Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant, a subsidiary of the Russian mining and steel producing group Mechel, increased its saleable steel product output by nine percent compared to 2009, to  4.504 million mt.

Of Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant's total shipments in 2010, about 80 percent were directed to the Russian domestic market, which is considered to be a priority and strategically important for the company.

The implementation of its investment projects, the most important of which was the commissioning of a new production complex for high quality steels and stainless steels in the arc-furnace melting shop No. 6 in July 2010, has allowed Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant to meet the increased demand from Russian consumers and to increase the share of supply of high quality steel products to the construction, chemical, food, oil and gas industries, as well as to the machine building and energy industries.

In 2010, Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant managed not only to exceed the post-crisis 2009 levels of output of sinter, pig iron, steel and finished rolled steel products, but also to exceed the levels for the successful pre-crisis year of 2007.
