Canadian coking coal production up 13.3 percent in May

According to Statistics Canada, coking coal production reached 220,965 mt in May 2018, up 13.3 percent from the 195,099 mt produced in April. On a year-on-year analysis, coking coal production was up 19.9 percent from the 184,168 mt reported in May 2017.

The supply of coking coal in Canada in May reached 282,985 mt, which represents a 6.3 percent decrease from the 302,015 mt of supply in April, and a 14.7 percent increase from the 246,762 mt of supply in May 2017.
