Canadian CITT to review special Staballoy roundbar
The Canadian Trade Tribunal has announced initiation of an interim review to include
stainless steel round bar of sizes 25 mm diameter upto 570 mm diameter inclusive, originating in or exported from
Germany,
France,
India,
Italy,
Japan,
Sweden, Chinese Taipei and the
UK.
This review concerns on inclusion of a specific
stainless steel round bar called Staballoy for which Corus Metals requested a review of the finding to exclude from a ruling dated 1998, claiming that the company was not involved in the
production of this specialty product at the time of finding.
On January 15, 2003, Slater, the Canadian
stainless steel bar producer, agreed to the exclusion request as described by Corus as the specified product is not produced in
Canada.
Both companies agreed on the description of the product and submitted requested documentary in this respect.
The purpose of this interim review is to determine if the finding should be amended to exclude the product for which an exclusion has been requested. If not continued, the finding will expire on September 3, 2003.
Submissions have already been placed and any further submissions by interested parties should be filed latest by February 21, 2003.
The Tribunal will make its decision on whether to amend its finding in Inquiry latest by March 5, 2003.
