Canada's iron and steel imports up 24 percent in March 2026

According to data from Statistics Canada, the country's iron and steel imports totaled 1.64 million mt in March 2026, up by 24.0 percent year on year. By value, iron and steel imports totaled $748.79 million in March 2026, compared to $876.76 million in the same month of 2025.

In the given month, Canada imported the most iron and steel from the US with 301,394 mt. Other top sources of imported iron and steel in March include South Korea with 40,410 mt.

In the January-March period, Canada's iron and steel imports amounted to 3.89 million mt, down by 44.2 percent year on year.  By value, iron and steel imports totaled $2.08 billion in the first three months of 2026, compared to $2.67 billion in the corresponding period of 2025.
