In June this year, production and sales of automotive vehicles in China amounted to 2.325 million units and 2.3 million units, respectively, up 6.3 percent and 4.8 percent month on month, while rising by 22.5 percent and 11.6 percent year on year, hitting a record high for a month of June, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
In the January-June period this year, production and sales of automotive vehicles in China totaled 10.112 million units and 10.257 million units, down 16.8 percent and 16.9 percent year on year due to sharp declines during the pandemic earlier this year.
In June, passenger vehicle output and sales in China totaled 1.798 million units and 1.764 million units, up 8.3 percent and 5.4 percent month on month, while rising by 12.2 percent and 1.8 percent year on year. In the first half of the current year, passenger vehicle output and sales in China totaled 7.754 million units and 7.873 million units, down 22.5 percent and 22.4 percent year on year, respectively.
In the given month, commercial vehicle output and sales in China amounted to 527,000 units and 536,000 units, almost remaining stable and up 3.1 percent month on month, while up 77.9 percent and 63.1 percent year on year, respectively. In the first six months of the year, commercial vehicle output and sales amounted to 2.359 million units and 2.384 million units, up 9.5 percent and 8.6 percent year on year, respectively.
In June, the production and sales of new energy vehicles came to 102,000 units and 104,000 units, down 25.0 percent and 33.1 percent, respectively, year on year. In the January-June period, the production and sales of new energy vehicles came to 397,000 units and 393,000 units, down 36.5 percent and 37.4 percent year on year, respectively.
