Bush is still in negotiations with Congress members about measures

In a statement released from White House, US President George W. Bush has not decided on the lifting of the safeguard measures regarding steel imports. The President is still negotiating with the members of Congress on the subject. A spokesman from White House expressed that the news in media stating the lifting of the safeguard measures will be materialized this week in order to avoid from a trade war is not reflecting the reality exactly. In the notice; it is also underscored that, Bush will lose vote in the coming elections from certain states that play a significant role in US steel industry, on the condition that the measures are lifted.
