Building permits in Turkey down 48.3 percent in 2019

The number of buildings authorized by building permits from municipalities in Turkey in 2019 decreased to 53,819, down 48.3 percent from 104,143 in the previous year, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). In 2017, the number of buildings authorized by municipality building permits totaled 161,921.

In 2019, the value of the buildings in question declined by 43.8 percent year on year to TRY 114.05 billion ($18.53 billion), while the total number of apartments authorized by building permits fell to 305,938, down 53.9 percent from 2018.

Meanwhile, last year the number of buildings given occupancy permits by municipalities in Turkey dropped by 26.6 percent year on year to 93,279 buildings.
