Wire rod exports from Brazil reached 24,100 mt in April, versus 40,900 mt in March, a slump of 77 percent, the result of lower export shipments across all destinations, according to foreign trade secretariat SECEX, of the ministry of development, industry and foreign trade.
The destinations were South American countries (15,600 mt at $589/mt), the US (8,000 mt at $693/mt), and Canada (500 mt at $889/mt), FOB conditions.
The exporters were ArcelorMittal (19,000 mt), and Gerdau (5,100 mt).
Meanwhile, Brazil imported 6,600 mt of wire rod in April, against 28,500 mt in March, with the decline the result of a 96 percent drop in shipments from Egypt, SECEX data shows.
The origins of the imports in April were China (4,700 mt at $479/mt), Germany (1,300 mt at $954/mt) and Egypt (600 mt at $552/mt), also FOB conditions.
