Brazil's motor vehicle output up 6.7 percent in 2018

Brazil's motor vehicle output (excluding agricultural vehicles) in December last year declined by 27.4 percent from the previous month and fell by 16.8 percent year on year to 177,700 units, according to the Brazilian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea). Meanwhile, in 2018, the country's motor vehicle output (excluding agricultural vehicles) grew by 6.7 percent year on year to 2,880,724 units.

New motor vehicle registrations (excluding agricultural vehicles) in Brazil totaled 234,531 units in December last year, rising 1.6 percent when compared to November and were up 10.3 percent year on year. In 2018, the country's new motor vehicle registrations (excluding agricultural vehicles) increased by 14.6 percent year on year to 2,566,433 units.

Meanwhile, Brazil's motor vehicle exports in December (excluding agricultural vehicles) totaled 31,709 units, decreasing by 7.9 percent compared to the previous month and down 48.1 percent year on year. In 2018, Brazil's motor vehicle exports totaled 629,175 units, falling by 17.9 percent year on year.
