Brazilian flat steelmakers up export revenues

Brazil's Foreign Trade Ministry disclosed that Brazilian flat steelmakers CSN and Usiminas raised their export revenues in the first five months of this year compared to the same period in 2005. CSN's shipments rose 26 percent from $243 million in the first five months of 2005 to $307 million in the first five months of 2006. In addition, Usiminas' shipments jumped 157 percent from $100 million to $257 million while its subsidiary Cosipa's export revenue amounted to $328 million, up 12 percent.
