Brazil has created a new mining agency called the National Mining Agency (ANM), according to government reports this week that also unveiled new rules for the country’s mining sector.

According to the government, ANM will implement policies for the local mining sector, establish industry norms, as well as manage information and the use of mineral resources in Brazil.

Brazil said ANM will be linked to the country’s mines and energy ministry (MME), and will serve as a regulator, imposing fines and overseeing mining activities in the country.
