BMZ reconstructs railway terminal

Belarusian Iron and Steel Works (BMZ) has completed the reconstruction of its railway terminal Zavodskaya, which is used by the company for receiving raw material stocks and delivering its finished steel products.

As a result of 11 months reconstruction, which included the construction of an additional 6.5 km of railway, the building of 26 track switches, of a new compressor station, and of a new receiving yard fitted with modern equipment, BMZ increased the terminal's capacity by 40 percent. The cost of the project amounted to BY Ruble 28 billion (approx. $12.75 million).

The increase of railway terminal's capacity is in line with BMZ's plans to up its output capacity to three million mt per year. Over the last five years, BMZ has enhanced its annual output by 25 percent from 1.6 million mt to two million mt of steel products.
