BlueScope Steel to start production at Xi’an plant in July

The new Xi’an, China-based building materials production plant of Australia’s biggest steelmaker BlueScope Steel will commence production operations in July of the current year, as reported by local media sources in Xi’an. The plant, located in Xi’an Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, will produce 120,000 mt annually, with an estimated output value of RMB 1 billion ($160.8 million) per year. Investment in the plant is expected to total RMB 420 million ($67.74 million).
 
The agreement for the project in Xi’an, which is Bluescope Steel’s biggest project in China, was signed in January 2011. It will provide 400 jobs after the start of production
