Australian miner BHP Billiton has announced its production results for the full financial year 2022-2023 ended June 30.
The company’s iron ore production in the given period increased by 1.5 percent year on year to 257.0 million mt. In the April-June period this year, the company produced 65.3 million mt of iron ore, up by nine percent compared to the January-March period, reflecting increased production at Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO), despite unfavorable impacts from tropical cyclone weather, due to the strong supply chain performance.
BHP Billiton said it expects its iron ore production to range between 254 million mt and 264.5 million mt for the 2023-24 financial year.
In the full financial year, BHP Billiton’s metallurgical coal production decreased by 0.3 percent year on year to 29.0 million mt. Production is expected to be between 28 million mt and 31 million mt in the 2023-24 financial year.
