Benxi Steel’s Beiying Rolling Mill achieves good Q1 performance

Liaoning Province-based Chinese steelmaker Benxi Iron and Steel Co. (Benxi Steel) has announced that in the first quarter of the current year its Beiying Rolling Mill produced 1.487 million mt of pig iron, 1.384 million mt of steel billet, 1.38 million mt of finished steel and 50,000 mt of cast iron pipes, all exceeding the targeted volumes for the period. In addition, in the given quarter Beiying Rolling Mill produced BYSG35 hot rolled wire rod for production of umbrella ribs and H10Mn2 hot rolled wire rod for welding, selling 337 mt and 417 mt respectively. In the same period, it also produced ER50-6, H08A and H08C grade welding quality wire rods, high quality hard wire rods, ML08AL and SWRCH35K cold heading steels, and 50GrVA spring steel billets, with a total output of 1.02 million mt.

In its statement, Benxi Steel said that in the first quarter Beiying Rolling Mill continued to focus on output, quality and cost of products and also on the development of specialty steel production.
