Meanwhile, during the March-May period, Benxi Steel posted a record high three-month export volume of 700,000 mt.
South Korea has been the traditional export destination of Benxi Steel's high quality hot rolled products. Since 2009 the steelmaker has ranked first among all Chinese steel producers in terms of shares in the South Korean market. As regards other traditional export markets such as the European market, in addition to the German, Belgian and Italian markets, Benxi Steel has lately expanded its business to the British and Spanish markets.
Meanwhile, Benxi Steel has stated that it is also paying attention to the South American markets as it sees a boost in steel demand due to the 2016 Olympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as well as due to the reconstruction after the recent earthquake in Chile. At the same time, this year Benxi Steel has also seized opportunities to conclude several lucrative contracts with the Indian market.
Benxi Steel also stated that it has been putting great emphasis on the development of special steel and thin specification steel for overseas markets. Recently completed orders include 13,000 mt of X46 pipeline steel for Australia's National Desalination Project, 10,000 mt of X56 and X60 pipeline steel for the Middle East, 10,000 mt of X80 pipeline steel for India, and high-strength and cold-forming HRP for automotive application for Europe.
