Liaoning Province-based Chinese steelmaker Benxi Iron and Steel has been increasing its cooperation with its strategic partners, notably China National Petroleum, China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation, and China National Offshore Oil Corp., especially in terms of sales of steel for the construction of pipelines. The steelmaker's pipeline steel products have been used in the second west-east natural gas transmission project and also in the China-Russia crude oil pipeline project. In 2009, the company signed contracts for sales of a total of 106,000 mt of pipeline steel. So far in 2010, its deliveries of X80 and X70 pipeline steels have exceeded 10,000 mt and 20,000 mt respectively.
