Bateman Engineering to supply new equipment to Mechel

Mechel, one of the leading Russian mining and steel companies, has announced that its Southern Urals Nickel subsidiary has awarded an equipment supply contract to The Netherlands-based plantmaker Bateman Engineering for the delivery of a new melting complex.

The scope of the contract includes the fundamental re-equipment of the plant and also supply and installment of a new 12 MW DC furnace. The total investment in the project amounts to $31 million. Work is expected to be completed by the end of 2009.
