Baotou Steel posts record output levels for 2009

In 2009, while adhering to a sales-based production strategy, Inner Mongolia-based Chinese steel producer Baotou Steel achieved new historical records in its outputs of crude steel, pig iron, and of semi-finished steel and finished steel combined, with its steel rail production reaching the highest worldwide level.

During last year, Baotou Steel produced 10.07 million mt of crude steel, 9.652 million mt of pig iron, and 9.58 million mt of semi-finished and finished steel combined, up by 230,000 mt, 110,000 mt and 340,000 mt respectively compared with 2008, all constituting new historical records for the company. Meanwhile, Baotou Steel's rail production for 2009 came to 1.3 million mt, the highest steel rail output level of any company worldwide.
