Indian state-run steelmaker Steel Authority of India Limited’s (SAIL) Bokaro Steel Plant (BSP) has secured supply contracts for 80,000 mt of various steel products with buyers in China, a company spokesperson said on Thursday, June 11.

The SAIL official said that BSP has secured export orders for 30,000 mt of slabs, 30,000 mt of hot rolled coils (HRC), and 20,000 mt of pig iron with Chinese buyers.

According to the official, the BSP plant located in the eastern state of Jharkhand is gradually increasing production in view of the easing of lockdown restrictions by the state government and is negotiating new export opportunities for HRC in markets like Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Iraq. He said that consignments to China had already commenced with the transportation of the steel products by rail to Haldia port on the east coast.
