Australia’s Stanmore discontinues operations at Mavis coal mine

Monday, 08 July 2024 14:45:00 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Australia-based metallurgical coal supplier Stanmore Resources has announced that it has decided to end operations at its Mavis underground coal mine, following a comprehensive review.

Accordingly, the company has determined that, given current market conditions and coal prices, the project has become uneconomical during its relatively short life. Also, it was unable to increase production volumes, resulting in higher costs.

The closure process is expected to be completed by the third quarter of this year.
