Australia’s Newcastle port opens new coal export terminal

A third coal export terminal has been officially opened at Newcastle port in Queensland, the coal producing state of Australia, Australian press reports have said.

The $1 billion-worth third coal-loader at the world's biggest coal port is owned by Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group and is expected to boost Newcastle coal exports by approximately 30 million mt per year from the current level of 133 million.

Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group is owned by six major Australian miners.
