An auction for the sale of Poland-based steelmaker Huta Częstochowa, formerly Liberty Częstochowa, which was officially declared bankrupt due to its financial troubles at the end of October last year, will take place on February 17, with a starting price of around PLN 227 million ($66.9 million), according to media reports.

It is not yet known how many companies will bid for the company. However, it seems that Poland-based coking coal exporter Węglokoks, the current lessee of the company, and Ukraine-based steelmaker Metinvest may be interested in acquiring the company.

In November last year, Węglokoks concluded an agreement to lease bankrupt Liberty Częstochowa and established a company called Huta Częstochowa to implement the leasing agreement, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
