Argentinian crude steel production in May this year increased by 7.1 percent month on month, to 410,900 mt, the country's steel chamber (CAA) has stated. Output declined in the comparison with May 2014, being 14.9 percent lower year on year. In the January-May period, crude steel production in Argentina totaled 1.99 million mt, 10.4 percent down compared to the same period of the previous year.

The year-on-year decline in output in May was reportedly a result of a dramatic global increase in steel imports in unfair trade conditions due to massive global overcapacity.

Argentina's hot rolled finished steel production in May fell 5.9 percent month on month and 16 percent year on year to 366,200 mt, while its cold rolled flat steel production in the given month increased by 6.1 percent month on month and by 4.9 percent year on year to 121,100 mt.
