Argentina’s crude steel output down 11% in 2012

According to the data released by Argentina's chamber of steel, in 2012 Argentina's crude steel output amounted to 5 million metric tons, falling 11 percent year on year. In December last year, Argentina's crude steel production totaled 334,000 metric tons, decreasing 15.6 percent compared to November and down 26.6 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in December Argentina's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 394,000 metric tons, up slightly by 0.6 percent month on month and down 7.3 percent compared to December 2011. Of this total, the hot rolled flat steel product output was 181,800 metric tons, up 4.8 percent month on month, while the long steel product output totaled 212,200 metric tons, decreasing by 2.7 percent compared to December last year.

The country's cold rolled flat steel product output in 2012 fell by 3.3 percent year on year to 1.4 million metric tons.
