Argentina's crude steel output down 0.6% in May from April

According to the report released by Argentina's steel chamber, in May this year the country's crude steel production was down 0.6 percent month on month and increased by 7.6 percent year on year, amounting to 482,900 metric tons. Production in the first five months of the current year totaled 2.22 million metric tons, 11.7 percent higher compared with the same period of 2013.

In May this year, Argentina's production of hot rolled steel amounted to 435,700 metric tons, down 2.6 percent month on month and decreasing by 3.2 percent compared to May 2013. In the first five months of this year, the country's hot rolled steel production totaled 2.09 million metric tons, decreasing 0.7 percent compared to the same period of 2013.

In May of the current year, Argentina's cold rolled flat steel production increased by two percent month on month and declined by 13.2 percent year on year to 115,400 metric tons, while output decreased by 6.3 percent year on year to 590,000 metric tons in the first five months.
