ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukrainian subsidiary of global steelmaker ArcelorMittal, has announced that in 2017 it produced 6.35 million mt of crude steel, falling by 9.3 percent year on year. In the given year, the company’s pig iron output fell by 8.2 percent from the previous year to 5.6 million mt and its finished steel output declined by 7.2 percent year on year to 5.1 million mt.
Meanwhile, in 2017, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih’s iron ore output amounted to 21.9 million mt, up 1.4 percent, while its iron ore concentrate output increased by 1.9 percent to 9.1 million mt and its coke output rose by 20 percent to 2.4 million mt, due to the smooth operation of coke-oven batteries Nos. 3 and 4 and the start-up of coke-oven battery No. 6, all compared to 2016.
ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih stated that in 2017 it managed to improve production levels at its mining operations, to carry out a number of repairs and to stabilize operation of equipment at the main shops, resulting in an increase in main raw materials output, while at its steel plant the company focused on the upgrading of production facilities and the implementation of its investment program. Modernization in 2017 included both repair of main facilities and implementation of environmental projects.
