ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukrainian subsidiary of global steelmaker ArcelorMittal, has announced that it has started the main stage of construction of its new continuous casting plant No. 2. Production capacity of the two new continuous casters at the plant will be 1.4 million mt per year each. The plant will enable larger billet output. The investment value of the project is more than $100 million. Final commissioning of the facilities is planned in the first quarter of 2019.

According to the ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih statement, commissioning of the new continuous casting machines will allow the plant to produce 130 mm х 130 mm and 150 mm х 150 mm steel billets. After the reconstruction of light section mill No. 4, the plant will produce rebar from billets, which will reduce costs and improve product quality.
