The world's largest steelmaker ArcelorMittal has announced the effectiveness of ArcelorMittal's merger into Arcelor, following the approval by the extraordinary general meetings of the shareholders of ArcelorMittal and Arcelor held on November 5, 2007.

The merger in question constitutes the final step in the two-step merger process between Mittal Steel Company N.V and Arcelor. In scope of the merger, Arcelor's name has been changed to "ArcelorMittal", which will be effective as of today, 13 November, and ArcelorMittal shareholders have automatically received one newly-issued ArcelorMittal (ex-Arcelor) share for every one (former) ArcelorMittal share.
