Anyang Steel breaks export records in Q1

During the first quarter of this year, Henan Province-based Anyang Steel signed export contracts for a total of 338,000 mt of steel products - 1.69 times the export figure recorded for the whole of 2006.

By the end of March, Anyang Steel has already achieved sales revenues of RMB 6.8 billion ($880 million) and profits of RMB 280 million ($36 million), up 39 percent and 140 percent respectively compared with the same period last year.

Since the beginning of 2007, Anyang Steel has seen a high growth in its production and efficiency. Statistics show that the company's total production for Q1 was 1.62 million mt of pig iron, 1.926 million mt of crude steel, and 1.657 million mt of finished steel, up 400,000 mt, 66,000 mt and 270,000 mt respectively year on year.
