The coal division of Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA), Minera Carbonífera Río Escondido, exceded expectations in 2014, according to a spokesman this week.

The year saw growth in the division of 10 percent compared to the previous year, a reflection of improvement in the national economy. By 2015 a further increase of 5 percent is anticipated.

This year the company fulfilled 100 percent of its coal delivery commitment to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).
