AHMSA to invest in upgrading and expansion

Mexican steel producer Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) has disclosed that it plans to invest around $500 million in upgrades and capacity expansion within two years. Accordingly, the company will upgrade its plate mill and build a new steel mill, which will have an electric furnace, secondary metallurgy equipment and a continuous casting machine. The nvestments will enable the company to increase liquid steel output by 700,000 tons to 4.2 million tons/year, up from the current 3.5 million tons/year.
