The Mexican Ministry of Economy (SE) accepted the request of Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA) and initiated a dumping investigation on imports of sheet steel plate, originating from China, for alleged price discrimination.

In a resolution published in the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF), the agency reports that the merchandise into the country is subject to the tariff 7208.51.01, 7208.51.02, 7208.51.03, 7208.52.01, 7225.40.01 and 7225.40.02 of Tariff Law General Taxes of Import and Export.

A review concluded that the entry of this product originated in China, regardless of the stated country of origin, and showed a growing trend in increasing their share relative to domestic production. The report indicated that Chinese imports significantly undercut prices of the domestic industry (between 11 and 18 percent) and below those from other countries (between 28 and 42 percent lower).
