Mexican steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) has received a recommendation from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) to receive a certificate of quality for the plates it produces, according to media reports.

AHMSA successfully passed an audit performed at its plate-Steckel rolling mill as well as its BOF 2 and continuous casting units from December 15-17.

As a result of the audit, AHMSA is now certified to produce wide plates under the norms of ABS, which is widely recognized in the US market.
