Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) reportedly halted operations at its heavy profiles area, according to two local media reports.

Both La Prensa de Monclova and El Tiempo said the halt was confirmed by a local union. The company halted operations for “an indefinite period of time,” according to La Prensa.

There have been rumors the AHMSA heavy profile steel shop had been or will be sold to Ternium Mexico, a claim not confirmed by either AHMSA or Ternium Mexico.
