Spanish stainless steel producer Acerinox S.A. has announced that its US subsidiary North American Stainless (NAS) has been awarded a contract to supply stainless steel rebar for use in the new Champlain Bridge that will span the St. Lawrence River from the community of Ile-des-Soeurs to Brossard in the Montreal metropolitan area, Quebec.

The new bridge is part of the project called the New Champlain Bridge Corridor Project, an 8.4 km-long corridor, with improvements to the existing highway complementing the construction of the new bridge. North American Stainless (NAS) started to supply stainless steel rebar, produced from its Ghent, Kentucky plant, for the project in November this year, while the total volume supplied will reach approximately 15,000 mt.
