Acerinox posts record production for 2006

Spanish stainless steel producer Acerinox has announced record production figures for 2006. For the year in question, the mill's melting shop output totaled 2,588,278 metric tons, up 15 percent on the figures for 2005. Hot rolled production increased by 11.7 percent year on year to 2,248,841 mt, cold rolled production saw a rise of 8.5 percent to 1,595,054 mt, while long products were up by 28 percent to 251,926 mt compared to 2005. At the same time as the announcement of its 2006 production data, the company has also issued details of an investment program worth Euro 437 million for the 2007-2008 period. By means of the investments which are to be completed by the end of 2008, the company is targeting increased annual production of 3.5 million mt at its melting shop, an annual three million mt of flat products (including around two million mt of cold rolled), and 400,000 mt of long products.
