330 million to be spent on second phase of Iran’s Sirjan Steel project

Iranian Rials 3.5 trillion (about $330 million) has recently been allocated for the construction of the second phase of Iranian steel producing facility Sirjan Steel.
 
Construction of the first phase of the project, consisting of a direct reduced iron (DRI) module of one million mt capacity, will be completed in 2012. The second phase will consist of a melt shop with an annual capacity of one million mt.
 
Sirjan Steel is located in the city of Sirjan in the southeastern Iranian province of Kerman, and is close to Gol-e-Gohar, one of the main Iranian iron ore mines.
