West Asia Steel, a new Iranian cold rolled coil (
CRC) producer with an annual production capacity of 500,000 mt, has been formally inaugurated by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday, May 26.
An investment of about Rials 2.3 trillion (approx. $220 million) has been spent on the project and about 600 persons are to be employed at the mill. West Asia Steel, located in the province of Qom, is a privately-owned rolling mill.
Construction of the second phase of West Asia Steel, consisting of a galvanizing mill with an annual capacity of 200,000 mt, was launched on the same date.
