Mobarakeh Steel Co. to raise output capacity to 25 million mt by 2025

Iranian steel producer Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC) has announced that it will increase its production capacity to 10.3 million mt by March 20, 2017 and up to 25 million mt by 2025. The company also targets to increase its share (currently 50 percent) in Iran’s total steel production by 2025, which is projected to reach 55 million mt.
 
Mobarakeh Steel stated that to achieve these targets it has undertaken certain strategic projects including the launch in the near future of its casting unit No. 5, which will add 1.8 million mt to its production capacity and raise its capacity to 7.2 million mt; reconstruction of its electric arc furnaces; increasing the production capacity of its subsidiary Saba Steel Complex from 750,000 mt to 1.6 million mt by the end of the current Iranian financial year, ending March 20, 2017; a direct reduction iron (DRI) project at its Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Sefid Dasht Steel Complex, which is now 99 percent complete; constructing a steelmaking plant at Sefid Dasht which has made 41 percent physical progress; and developing plans to launch a hot rolling unit and carrying out expansion projects at its subsidiary Hormozgan Steel Co. to upgrade its production capacity to 3 million mt from 1.5 million mt.
