Simaş Metal Elektrik: We aim to increase our market share in the cable tray and support systems

Tuesday, 21 April 2026 15:38:18 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

We spoke with Murat Hapçıoğlu, deputy general manager of sales and marketing at Simaş Metal Elektrik, about the company’s flagship products and capabilities, as well as its plans for the coming period.

Could you briefly describe Simaş Metal Elektrik’s founding story and where the company stands today?

SİMAŞ METAL ELEKTRİK SAN. TİC. A.Ş. was founded with the vision of providing value-added solutions to customers, built on decades of accumulated experience in the metal and electrical sectors. Since our inception, our core focus has been on reliable supply, sustainable quality, and customer satisfaction.

Today, we operate not merely as a supplier but as a solution partner, continuously expanding our product range and adapting quickly to industry developments within a dynamic structure.

Could you provide information about your product range and the sectors you serve?

As a company, we offer a wide range of products for the electrical contracting sector and electrical infrastructure solutions, including cable management systems, cable trays, and accessories, as well as cables, switchgear, and lighting equipment.

As of 2026, thanks to the regional dealership agreement we have established with Ardıç Elektrik, we have secured a strong position in the cable channel product category.

The primary sectors we serve include industrial facilities, energy projects, the construction sector, infrastructure projects, and industrial production facilities.

What are the key factors that distinguish your company from its competitors in the market?

The most important factors that set us apart from our competitors are reliability, speed, and a solution-oriented approach.

By accurately analyzing our customers’ needs, we aim to provide not just products, but the right solutions. Additionally, thanks to our strong supply network, partnerships with quality manufacturers, and flexible logistics capabilities, we contribute to projects quickly and sustainably.

What changes have you observed in demand from the industrial and construction sectors recently?

Recently, we have observed an increase in the trend toward more planned and long-term purchasing, particularly in industrial projects. On the construction side, we can say that a cost-focused approach has become more pronounced.

Additionally, the emphasis on quality standards and the use of certified products has significantly increased. This creates a significant advantage for companies that can offer qualified and certified products.

What is the situation in export markets, and which markets are leading in your sales?

While our primary focus at the moment is on establishing a strong presence in the domestic market, we are also indirectly active in international markets thanks to the export capabilities of the manufacturing firms we collaborate with.

The European market, in particular, stands out in terms of quality standards and demand for sustainable products. We aim to make our export activities more systematic in the coming period.

What percentage of your products consists of steel inputs? In which product groups does steel play a more critical role?

Steel serves as the primary raw material in a significant portion of our products, particularly in cable trays and transport systems.

Cable trays are divided into two main segments: those used in light-duty applications are generally manufactured from slotted galvanized sheet metal.

Channels designated as heavy-duty, which are typically used in infrastructure and outdoor applications, are manufactured from slotted HR (hot-rolled) and CR (cold-rolled) sheets. These are subsequently galvanized using a piece-dipping system at our in-house hot-dip galvanizing (zinc) coating facility to provide high corrosion resistance.

Especially in galvanized cable channels, heavy-duty transport systems, and products used in industrial applications, the quality, durability, and coating properties of the steel play a critical role.

How do you assess the impact of developments in the steel sector (price, supply, quality) on your business model?

Price fluctuations and supply-demand balance in the steel sector directly impact our cost structure. Therefore, flexible pricing and robust inventory management are of great importance.

However, the rise in quality standards represents a positive long-term development for the sector and creates a competitive advantage for quality-focused companies like ours.

Do you primarily source your steel from local producers or through imports?

Generally, we prefer to work with local producers. Turkey’s strong infrastructure and quality standards in steel production make local sourcing advantageous both economically and operationally. However, we also consider imports as an alternative based on project-specific needs.

What are the biggest challenges you face in the supply chain?

Recent geopolitical developments have had significant impacts, particularly on logistics costs and delivery times.

Additionally, fluctuations in raw material prices and uncertainties in supply lead times complicate planning processes. At this point, establishing strong business partnerships and alternative supply channels is of critical importance.

Could you share information about your new investment, product, or market plans?

Our collaboration with Ardıç Elektrik represents a significant growth step for us. We aim to increase our market share in the cable channel and transportation systems sector. Our primary objectives include participating in infrastructure projects currently underway or planned in our country and ensuring our products are utilized in major construction projects.

How is 2026 going, and what are your expectations for the end of the year?

We started 2026 on a strong note. Thanks to our new partnerships, we have expanded our product range and begun participating in more projects.

For the remainder of the year, our priorities include steady growth, expanding our customer portfolio, and improving operational efficiency.

Finally, what would you like to add?

As SİMAŞ METAL ELEKTRİK A.Ş., our goal is to become a lasting and strong brand in our industry by acting with a vision that anticipates not only today’s but also tomorrow’s needs.

We will continue to grow alongside our business partners and customers, delivering high-quality and sustainable solutions.
