Over the past month, local stockists' seamless pipe prices in Iran have gone down by a maximum of $165/mt due to low demand and the depressed market amid subdued activity on construction projects. However, in May many projects have been activated, causing pipe demand to rise, and foreign suppliers have continued to raise prices, though at a slow rate. In particular, quotations of Chinese seamless pipes have increased by $30-40/mt. Import offers of Ukrainian seamless pipes have moved up by $5-15/mt during the past month, while quotations of Russian material have increased by a maximum of $30/mt. Foreign suppliers may attempt to lift their seamless pipe offers further in the coming period as construction activity gradually recovers in Iran and results in higher demand. However, government policy aimed at controlling prices will restrain the price growth of locally produced seamless pipes.
Local stockists' prices for domestic production seamless pipes of ½"-3" size are at about $1,400-2,090/mt ex-warehouse, compared with $1,530-2,090/mt ex-warehouse one month ago.
Import offers of Chinese seamless pipes, 2"-6" grade B made to ASTM A106/API 5L, are being given to the local Iranian market at $1,080-1,130/mt C&F Bandar Abbas, compared with $1,040-1,100/mt C&F four weeks ago.
Quotations of Ukrainian seamless pipes of 2"-14" size grade B as per ASTM A106/API 5L are at about $1,230-1,260/mt C&F Bandar Abbas, against $1,215-1,255/mt C&F one month ago.
Russian pipes of 2"-8" grade B as per ASTM A106/API 5L are being offered to northern Iranian ports at $1,190-1,240/mt C&F Anzali, against $1,160-1,240/mt C&F in the middle of April.
