How high will US line pipe prices go?

Spot market prices for US domestic API X-52 line pipe prices may have stabilized in the past week, after a $3.75 cwt. ($83/mt or $75/nt) spike after tariffs were announced against imports from Canada, the EU and Mexico, but many wonder if prices will continue to climb.

The average price range has remained between $71.25-$73.75 cwt. ($1571-$1626/mt or $1425-1475/nt) ex-mill, reflecting no change in the past week.

Some SteelOrbis sources believe that US HRC prices could climb by as much a $5.00 cwt. ($110/mt or $100/nt) before the end of Q3, which many believe would lead to additional price increases for energy pipe.

Demand and oil drilling activity is still robust, sources note, due to continued strength in global oil prices.
