During the week ending August 25, average Chinese steel pipe export offers have remained stable. At present, export offers for welded pipe given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $845-875/mt FOB, remaining stable week on week, while export offers for API 5L seamless pipe given by Chinese suppliers are at $855-875/mt FOB, November shipment, moving sideways compared to that recorded on August 18.

During the given week, steel pipe prices have moved sideways amid better demand. The rising iron ore prices bolstered steel pipe prices to some extent. At the same time, rebar futures prices have edged up, also positively affecting steel pipe market. It is thought that steel pipe prices in the Chinese domestic market may edge up slightly in the coming week.

Rebar futures prices at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) stand at RMB 5,236/mt ($809.3/mt) on August 25, up RMB 92/mt ($14.2/mt) or 1.8 percent from August 18.
