On August 14, SteelOrbis reported domestic silicon metal prices for grade 553 at $2,600-2,680/mt in-warehouse Pittsburgh with prices expected to increase to $2,755/mt in-warehouse Pittsburgh later in August.

According to sources, silicon metal prices are presently at $2,700-2,777/mt in-warehouse Pittsburgh. The new range represents an increase of $97-100/mt from the reported mid-August range. A source noted that prices increased on limited supply, active demand, and “price placement in anticipation of 2018 Q1 contract negotiations.”
