On October 2, SteelOrbis reported US domestic high-carbon ferrochrome (6-8 percent carbon, 60-65 percent chromium, and maximum 2 percent silicon) trading at $3,128-3,195/mt in-warehouse Pittsburgh. Sources inform SteelOrbis that spot prices are presently at $3,085-3,262/mt in-warehouse Pittsburgh. The range widened down $43/mt from the bottom of the range and increased $67/mt from the top of the same range. Larger deals for delivery prior to year-end were reported with a deeper discount.

As the latest tender by the US Defense Logistics Agency Strategic Materials this month was purchased by Traxys and Glencore, sources believe prices will remain relatively firm on tight supply management.
